Community Coaching
MiniRoos Certificate
A three-hour practical session designed for coaches working with players from 5-8 years old in the discovery phase. This free course is practical and encourages the coach to facilitate sessions that are based on FUN and learning by PLAYING football.
Skill Training Certificate
Conducted over 14 hours, this course is designed for coaches working with players aged between 9-12 years old in the Skill Acquisition Phase. This course focuses on the four core skills identified by Football Australia: 1 v 1; Running with the ball; Striking the ball; and First Touch.
Game Training Certificate
Conducted over 14 hours, this course is designed for coaches working with players aged between 13-17 years old in the Game Training Phase. This course focuses on the development of tactical awareness, perception and decision making through a game related approach to training.
Senior Coaching Certificate
This course is for coaches working in the Performance Phase with players 17 years and older. It teaches the coach to prepare their team for a competition environment where winning is the main aim. Training focuses on solving football problems, based on match analysis with football conditioning becoming a key part of the course.
Goalkeeping Course
This 3-hour course is practical and encourages the coach to develop sessions that are based on FUN. The emphasis is on natural development, i.e. learning by PLAYING football. This course is for coaches training 5-9 year old goalkeepers.
Talent Identification Course
The course is structured around three main modules: Great Talent Is Not Necessarily Right Talent; What You See Is Not Necessarily What You Get; and Never Overrate Certificates, Never Underrate Character. Coaches will learn how to effectively identify talented players utilising these three frameworks and earn 30 Coaching Professional Development points (CPD).
Advanced Coaching
C Licence
Delivered by Football Queensland’s Coach education team, this course is the first step on the Football Australia Advanced Pathway to become a professional coach.Coaches will be introduced to all elements of the National Curriculum, The Football Australia Team Model, and the Coach Expertise Model.
B Licence
This course focuses on the 11 v 11 aspects of the game where candidates will be able to analyse football and apply the Football Australia Vision and Philosophy in the Game Training Model. It is the second step to become a professional coach and is for coaches who hold the Football Australia ‘C’ License or approved overseas equivalent.
A Licence
This course educates candidates on the 11 v 11 aspects of the game to apply their own vision and philosophy holistically to develop Semi Professional, State, Institute/Academy and National Youth League teams. It is the third step to become a professional coach and is for coaches who hold an accredited Football Australia/AFC ‘B’ License or recognised equivalent qualification.
Professional Diploma
The course revolves around four areas: Leading Self, Leading Others, Leading Culture, & The Business of Football. 20 day course (four 5 day modules) involving significant course, distance learning and post course tasks. The course has a heavy focus on leadership, both on and off the field, and dealing with the pressures of being a professional coach. The course has been designed based on the feedback and experiences of professional coaches to better prepare them to handle the complexities of the role.
Goalkeeping Course
This course teaches candidates to apply the National Curriculum holistically to develop State League, NYL, State Representative, and Academy goalkeepers. All Goalkeeping License tasks and information are sent to candidates on a course-by-course basis once accepted.
